
Quantified Community [ Behavior Scenarios & Sensory Mapping ]
Quantified Community, an interactive installation in the exhibition Time Space Existence 2021, organized by European Cultural Center, extensive Venice Biennial of Architecture. In collaboratin with the Chinese Architecture Studio LOD - La Living & OPR Design.
The concept developed is
people and data: generation-collection-visualization and consumption cycle. Quantified Space using big data to inform architectural design decisions and create multi-sensory experience: Quantified Emotions.
Concepts & memories
At this very moment for humanity, where the physical existence is expanded to a virtual one, more than any other period in history, the consciousness about our own existence in space and time, becomes by its difficulty, a necessary act and almost revolutionary. Especially considering that we begin to live in a (virtual) world that is created by our actions, and the consequences of them, is capable of modifying and transforming us into the most (virtual and physical) diverse versions of ourselves that we have possibly imagined.
Inside the real (physical) Space-Time, our actions modify the current space, resignifying it in the way that we have chosen to inhabit it, and at the same time, the space, its configuration and quality, give sense to our actions and emotions, producing a symbiosis between the inhabited space and the subject that lives in it, influencing to each other. The footprints of those exchanges and existence, are at times, ephemeral, aesthetics, historicals and quantifiables, while there is a will to be that way. This constitutes a fundamental piece for the architecture soul as a philosophy, a way of thinking and an art form expression.
Meanwhile, the virtual subject isn’t able to establish a relationship with its virtual context avoiding the footprint mark, the direct or indirect information overturned: concerns, needs and/or wishes are converted in a measurable trace in a shape made of data that affects and customize their own space configuration under the promise of a better user experience and very attractive benefits. This technology’s scope is absolutely possible. However, its application is under the interests and values of those who own the data and have the capacity to analyze them, positioning themselves in a stronger and advantageous position regarding the user. Then, thanks to this exchange, the paradox of what market science has called “prosumer”, the subject who is able to produce and consume at the same time. The consciousness about this condition and unproportioned pulse between the participants of this process, complete the elements that have modeled this project.
